Kuhn was Raised on a central Illinois grain farm. He received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois in 1982. He worked in the grain and futures industry as a grain merchandiser and commodity broker with Growmark, Countrymark and ADM from 1983 - 1999. He currently works as a grain marketing and crop insurance specialist/consultant for AgriSource, Inc. which is based out of Lafayette, Indiana.
