Tour Topics

Tours Beginning 8:30 a.m.


Each tour will last approximately 90 minutes, including travel time by tour wagons to and from the tour areas. Tours # 1 - 4 are offered four times, beginning at 8:30 a.m., while Tours # 5 & 6 are offered only twice, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Plan accordingly and come early to attend as many tours as you can.

Tour # 1: The Inaugural "Kitchen Sink" Plots
8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m.

Jimmy Bricker, Benton Co. Extension (moderator)
Eight "teams" from several surrounding counties and Purdue Ag. Centers submitted their "recipes" for achieving top yields or net returns from a list of production practice choices; including hybrid selection, seeding rate, nitrogen fertilizer rate, pre-plant vs. sidedress nitrogen application timing, starter fertilizer rate, and +/- planter insecticide. This is your opportunity to inspect the eight "contest" plots and cast your ballots for top yields and/or net returns in this year's inaugural "Kitchen Sink" plot demonstration.
