Northern Indiana Loams and Clay Loams, Regular Population.

Data at these two locations may be used as a guide to the performance of these hybrids on northern Indiana loam and clay loam soils with regular population. The tests at both locations were very uniform and high yielding.

Location 1 is on the Pinney-Purdue Agricultural Center near Wanatah in Porter County, on a Sebewa loam.  In 1998, the Wanatah test was planted May 12 at the rate of 24,800 seeds per acre and harvested October 8. Fertilizer applied was 160 pounds N, and 100 pounds K2O.

Location 2 is on the James Haynes Farm near Auburn in DeKalb County, on a Rensselaer loam.  The Auburn test was planted April 24 at the rate of 24,800 seeds per acre and harvested September 30. Fertilizer applied was 150 pounds N, 52 pounds P2O5, and 126 pounds K2O.
