Central Indiana Clay Loams, High Population and Fertility.

Data at these two locations may be used as a guide to the performance of these hybrids on central Indiana clay loams with high population and fertility.

Location 1 is on the Purdue University Agronomy Research Center near Lafayette in Tippecanoe County (James J. Beaty, superintendent), on a Chalmers silty clay loam.    In 1998, the West Lafayette test was planted April 28 at the rate of 29,000 seeds per acre and harvested September 21. Fertilizer applied was 265 pounds N.

Location 2 is on the Ed Ripberger Farm near Tipton in Tipton County, on a Del Ray silty clay loam.  The Tipton test was planted April 22 at the rate of 29,000 seeds per acre and harvested October 17. Fertilizer applied was 252 pounds N, 40 pounds P2O5, and 164 pounds K2O.
