Danish Agricultural Advisory Centre
The Danish Agricultural and Veterinary Research Council. The Council supports fundamental research within the area of agricultural and veterinary science. The activities of the Council concentrate on basic biological mechanisms of importance to plants and domestic animals and on issues of relevance to agriculture, horticulture, fruit farming, forestry and aquaculture. The Council activities also focus on enterprises producing food and other agricultural products, feedstuffs, fertilizers and pesticides as well as on the advisory services available in the sector. Ethics, behaviour and well-being in production are considered important approaches in the research projects.
Danish Informatics Network in the Agricultural Sciences. DINA is a network connecting scientists and research activities at universities, research institutions, extension services and industries throughout Denmark. The emphasis is on the use of mathematics, statistics and computer science in agricultural research and development, on communication of methods to the agricultural sector, and on research education.
The Danish Institute of Plant and Soil Science (DIPS) is the central research institute within the area of plant production in Denmark. As a sectorial research institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries the objective of DIPS is to carry out research and experiments and to disseminate knowledge to promote an economically and environmentally plant production in Denmark.
Department of Soil Science. The department carries out research in the interactions between the natural growth factors and those stemming from cultivation techniques as a basis for developing specific cultivation systems for the individual crops. The research is discipline oriented within the areas of agrometerology, crop physiology, soil physics, soil and fertilizer chemistry and microbiological ecology in the root zone and deeper soil layers.
