The ZADI is a public institution without legal capacity within the
administrative responsibility of the German Federal Ministry of Food,
Agriculture and Forestry (BML). ZADI's central task is to manage the resources
of information within the field of agriculture. ZADI, together with its
partners of the Information System on Food, Agriculture and Forestry
(Fachinformationssystem Ernährung, Land- und Forstwirtschaft/FIS-ELF),
supports the construction and availability of national and international
bibliographic and factual data and promotes the increasing use of information
and communication technologies in agriculture. ZADI's activities focus on
applied research and development within the fields of agricultural
documentation and informatics. They include approaches to the effective forming
of the inividual steps for the development, maintenance and use of
bibliographic, project and factual databases. ZADI is furthermore responsible
for the development of information networks.
