Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR)

Food and Fertilizer Technology Center
The Center was established in 1970 by the ASPAC Council, in reponse to a regional shortage of both rice and fertilizers. Its founding Agreement states that: "The purpose of the Centre is to promote... the exchance and dissemination of technical information and experience on agricultural food production and, in particular, on the use of chemical fertilizer and the adoption of related farming methods, so as to achieve an increased output and higher incomes for farmers in the Asian and Pacific region."
