Top Ten Things to Remember about MMP

(If you can only remember 10 things)

  1. Manure Management Planner (MMP) is free (www.agry.purdue.edu/mmp).

  2. MMP is nationally supported by both USDA-NRCS and USEPA for nutrient management planning.

  3. MMP calculates Extension fertilizer recommendations and manure nutrient availability automatically and in accordance with state NRCS 590 standards.

  4. MMP includes an extensive set of reports, planning calendars, charts, and tools, both built-in and custom. Plus you can develop custom tools yourself with Access, Excel, Word or PowerPoint and add them in to MMP.*

  5. Only MMP allows you to design 'smart' document templates containing boilerplate text, popup lists of Word AutoText, and queries for creating tables of data (from MMP or other data sources). Consultants and planners can use these templates with MMP's document generator to create CNMPs and other complex documents automatically.*

  6. MMP automatically imports field data from Missouri's Spatial Nutrient Management Planner (SNMP) GIS. SNMP is also free (www.cares.missouri.edu/snmp) and is also supported nationally by USEPA for nutrient management planning.

  7. MMP can export data to RUSLE2 (http://fargo.nserl.purdue.edu/rusle2_dataweb/RUSLE2_Index.htm) for estimating soil loss.

  8. MMP field data can be imported into WinMax (also free - www.agry.purdue.edu/max) to do more comprehensive crop production and nutrient management recordkeeping. WinMax also automatically calculates Extension fertilizer recommendations and manure nutrient availability and can export to MMP as well.

  9. MMP's illustrated Getting Started guide gets you started with MMP and SNMP in only 38 pages.

  10. MMP includes comprehensive program help and numerous sample plans.
