My Responsibilities at Purdue University

arrow.gif (211 bytes)  The major position responsibility is developing extension soil and water conservation programs for a 19 county area in Southwest Indiana, with office located in Jasper, Indiana. Official duties assigned to this position include:

1.) Develop an effective educational program regarding the impact of soil erosion on soil productivity, off-site sediment problems, and water quality with emphasis on conservation practices that reduce adverse effects in accordance with the Clean Water Indiana (formerly "T by 2000") goals.

· Develop materials and training programs for educators emphasizing soil and water conservation.
· Develop "on-farm" demonstrations of specific conservation practices.
· Make effective use of audio-visual equipment, computers, and the media in educating the public.

2.) Coordinate educational programs and meetings and work closely with Cooperative Extension Service (CES), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD’s), Farm Services Agency (FSA), and Indiana Department of Natural Resources-Division of Soil Conservation (IDNR-DSC) and encourage districts/counties to work together in developing regional meetings on soil and water conservation issues.
