Hotel/Travel Information Making Hotel Reservations Participants who are sponsored by the conference organizing committee will have room reservations made on their behalf. All other speakers and participants need to contact the Addis Ababa Hilton directly and request the USAID discounted rate offered for the conference or contact Mrs. Katy Ibrahim at kgi@purdue.edu. Hilton Addis Ababa Visas It is recommended that you request a visa through the Ethiopian Embassy in your own country. If your country has no Ethiopian representation, please advise Mrs. Katy Ibrahim at kgi@purdue.edu immediately so we can arrange through the Ethiopian Ministry of Interior to have a visa issued to you on arrival. To facilitate the process, we will provide you with a letter of invitation to the conference. When completing a conference registration form, do not forget to attach a photocopy of the passport page showing your photo and details. Both the form and the photocopy are essential. We plan to submit a list of conference attendees to the Immigration Office in the Addis Ababa airport to facilitate your entry into Ethiopia. Vaccinations and Medications Conference participants should visit a health care provider in their community to discuss travel plans to Ethiopia, assess possible health risks, and determine any necessary vaccinations and medications. An International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever is required for entry into Ethiopia. A four- to six-week period is often recommended between vaccination and travel. That means you should visit your health care provider or public health facility well in advance of the conference for your yellow fever vaccination. Other vaccinations also may be recommended. For more information on disease risks and recommended medications (including preventative drugs for East Africa), visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Health Information for Travelers to Countries in East Africa page: www.cdc.gov/travel/eafrica.htm.
