The Indiana State Chemists Office's (ISCO) new pesticide rule went into effect Aug. 1 and includes:
Any person applying any pesticide to a golf course must have a commercial pesticide applicator license or be under the direct supervision of a licensed commercial pesticide applicator.
A non-certified applicator can apply pesticides if directly supervised by a certified applicator.
Pesticide application records must be kept for two years and must be available for inspection by OISC personnel or licensed health care professionals.
Though this new rule is in effect and can be fully enforced if necessary, The ISCO intends to spend the first year offering compliance assistance to golf course personnel through inspections and outreach education efforts.
