Broadleaf Plantain (Plantago major), Blackseed Plantain (Plantago rugelii): These two species are very similar in appearance. Native perennial belonging to the family plantaginaceae. Forms a rosette of large rounded leaves. Leaves are from 3 to 6 inches long. Seed stalks rise from the center of the rosette to a height of 5 to 12 inches. Plants are supported by a fibrous root system. Typically present on low quality turf with low to medium fertility levels.
