Spatial data are the fundamental components of an agricultural GIS database. Growers hope to minimize or manage spatial yield variability in order to maximize or optimize profitability. The causes of yield variability must therefore be determined, which requires the acquisition of additional spatial data sets or 'layers' of information.

This presentation discusses the influence of dense and sparse data sets on your ability to characterize the spatial variability of yield influencing factors.
