Wild carrot
Wild carrot is commonly referred to as Queen Anne's Lace.  It is a severe problem in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio but can also be found in many waste areas further west.  Wild carrot is a biennial.
The first year it grows in a rosette form and the second year it will grow reproductively, sending up its flower stalk.  Mowing is not a very effective means of controlling this weed the first year while it is in its rosette form.
Wild carrot generally grows from one to four feet tall and when its stem is broken open it has a very definite carrot-like odor.
It spreads by seeds only which are dull brown to tan and very spiny.
