These are the rules for determining the answers to the right-hand side of the Agriculture and Environment scorecard.
Scorecard questions
Applicable rules
Use Table 5 from the book (p. ________) to determine the land capability class.
Mark all subclasses that apply.
Soil belongs to subclass
"e"
(answer 52 is YES) if:
Slope of 3% or more
OR
Sandy or moderately sandy surface texture.
Soil belongs to subclass
"s"
(answer 53 is YES) if:
40 inches or less to any limiting layer
OR
Surface texture or subsoil texture is sandy or moderately sandy.
Soil belongs to subclass
"w"
(answer 54 is YES) if:
Poorly or somewhat poorly drained soil
OR
On floodplain or filled depression landforms.
Soil is considered
Prime farmland
(answer 55 is YES) if the soil contains
ALL
these properties:
Moderately sandy or finer subsoil texture
AND
More than 20 inches to bedrock or coarse sand and gravel limiting layer
AND
Slope is 6% or less
High potential for
soil erosion by water
(answer 56 is YES) if:
Soils on slopes steeper than 12%
High potential for
soil erosion by wind
(answer 57 is YES) if:
Soils have sandy or moderately sandy surface texture
High potential for
soil compaction
(answer 58 is YES) if:
Somewhat poor or poor natural soil drainage
AND
Moderately sandy or finer surface texture
