Katy Mazer

BIOGRAPHY

Katy Mazer, P.E., is an ecological engineer and scientist with nearly 10 years of experience in managing water resources projects in the US, Peru, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago. These projects have included designing, co-producing, and implementing a breadth of engineering solutions, from small-scale water systems for rural communities to multi-watershed decision-support tools. She has experience working in international settings with local communities to leverage existing resources to meet water, resilience, and adaptation needs through training and infrastructure development. In the past two years, Katy has also become more involved with water resources issues in Indiana, managing research at the recycled drainage water wetland site and mentoring several dedicated undergraduate students. She also works with Dr. Jane Frankenberger to study the impact of agricultural conservation practices on nutrient water quality. Katy loves contributing to the extension of the team’s research findings to local communities and professionals in Indiana and abroad. When she’s not at work, you can find her hiking, climbing, skiing, biking, and doing all things fun in the Black Hills of South Dakota (working remotely has its perks).
