Wetland Restoration Project

Project Summary:

Project developments

Thanks to Dr. Bowling's AGRY 399 class for helping in this year's spring clean up.

The wetland at the Agronomy Center for Research and Education (ACRE) filters outflow from two major sub surface tiles, and has been overrun by invasives, including canary reed grass and garlic mustard. Several students have been maintaining piezometers and other monitoring equipment. Additionally, Mike Muenich has been leading an effort to eradicate the canary reed grass and reestablish native vegetation, while monitoring the system to quantify the effect of this work out water quality.

Clean-up Photos

Every spring we take our students out to remove garlic mustard and trash from the wetland. Here are some photos of our activites.
