A culture of science-based, collaborative water and watershed management in the Arequipa region


Our Mission

To understand the environmental and social dimensions of water management and watershed governance and devlop research capacities, programs, and tools to improve the sustainability of water management and watershed governance in the region.


Project Objectives

  • Objective 1: Evaluate formal and informal social institutions that influence management of shared water resources
  • Objective 2: Identify geospatial and in-situ data resources
  • Objective 3: Utilize co-production principles to identify needs and develop simulation models and tools
  • Objective 4: Suggest alternative techniques for water management planning and decision-making that incorporate the opinions and needs of stakeholders
  • Objective 5: Train stakeholder groups on use of tools to evaluate water and agricultural management options
